چکیده

Cases presenting with changes in various organs caused by anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccination are rare. In particular, after such instances of vaccination, onset subacute thyroiditis, Hashimoto and Graves’ disease was observed. We present the case a 55-year-old woman whose hypothyroidism converted to hyperthyroidism Gam-COVID-Vac (Sputnik V). After first dose vaccine, hormonal metabolism alteration noted, i.e., conversion from euthyroidism. second thyrotoxicosis noted without signs thyroiditis. Hyperthyroidism persisted for several weeks before reverting hypothyroidism. Assessments did not reveal an increase patient’s thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody levels throughout indicated period. However, reverted hypothyroidism, significant peak systolic velocity superior thyroid arteries observed, which is characteristic hyperthyroidism. Owing known involvement autonomic nervous system (ANS) blood vessel tone regulation, hormonogenesis, stress, ANS-mediated certain individuals receiving may serve as sufficient stimulus ANS nerve centers, highly probable. Therefore, diagnostic assessment condition should be performed patients chronic disorders or diseases other organ systems. If found, providing preemptive treatment recommended. The common reported adverse impacts of COVID-19 vaccination include the injection site’s local reaction followed by various non-specific flu-like symptoms. Nevertheless, uncommon cases of vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) and cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) following viral vector vaccines (ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine, Ad26.COV2 vaccine) have been reported. This liter...

Whole-inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines: from fear to hope

Undoubtedly, vaccination can be one of the promising approaches to control infectious diseases such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Inactivated viral vaccines have a history of "vaccine-induced enhanced disease", which may occur when neutralizing antibodies bind to viral antigens without blocking or clearing the infection. This can cause additional inflammation through the mechanisms described for ot...

Seroprevalence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody in healthcare workers: A report from Rafsanjan, Iran

Background: Healthcare workers (HCWs) have a high risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Seroprevalence studies can provide related data on HCWs who have a history of infections. According to numerous seroepidemiological reports of COVID-19 in different groups and the lack of seroepidemiological reports of COVID-19 in HCWs in Rafsanjan, the aim of this study was to determine the SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalenc...
